I bought this lens for work and play.
For work, I have used this lens a lot for real estate photography. It’s nice wide field of view and it clean sharpness allows me to grab some great interior and exterior shots of properties.
For play, astrophotography. For the price, this is an outstanding lens for astrophotography. Super wide, low aperture and the manual focus/aperture makes this an awesome lens for astrophotography in my opinion.

Real Estate Photography
The Samyang 14mm f2.8 lens shoots nice and wide, which is great for real estate photography. Being an f2.8, it works great for low light too.
Warnings – This lens uses a manual aperture and focus. If you’re not sure what this means, you should definitely join my free creative photography online course to learn how to use a camera well.
It also suffers from a distortion issue, so straight lines, horizontal or vertical (especially near the edge of the image), will appear warped. Great news though – all the best real estate photography is taken from an angle, not straight on, so you should be fine.
Astrophotography
When using this lens for astrophotography, open the aperture right up and remember to focus on the stars with the live viewer, zoomed right in. Once you’ve done that, your lens is set. This lens shoots quite sharp and clean, plus gives a nice star burst effect when there are any lights in the shot.
